I offer to clinical supervision (aka consultation) to licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors and social workers who are seeking to deepen their proficiency in psychodynamic, psychotherapy. As a Supervising and Training Analyst, I have been appointed to supervise, and treat, psychoanalysts-in-training. Also, I provide consultation to graduate psychoanalysts who wish to more comprehensively develop their analytic skills and to more fully develop their analytic practices.
While I devote most of my time to the practice of psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, for decades, I’ve spent a substantial part of my time providing supervision and consultation. I greatly enjoy this work and I find that providing supervision deepens my own clinical skills.
In addition to providing supervision to psychoanalysts-in-training, psychoanalysts and psychodynamic psychotherapists, I have a few niche areas. These are:
Beyond my private practice, I teach at Johns Hopkins and at the Washington Baltimore Psychoanalytic Institute. Previously, I taught at Carnegie Mellon and at the University of Pittsburgh. In these contexts, I’ve provided clinical supervision, and consultation, to mental health professionals at each stage of their professional odyssey. Beyond this, I’ve provided extensive consultation to independent school administrators and university faculty on dealing with educational, mental health and organizational challenges.
